Training and Experience:
Shelby earned her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Walden University. She completed her clinical internship at a private group practice in Annapolis, where she gained experience supporting diverse clients navigating various mental health, emotional, and behavioral concerns. Shelby also holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Delaware. Before pursuing her passion for mental health counseling, she worked for 15 years in the veterinary field.
In Shelby’s words:
I welcome individuals from all backgrounds into a safe, supportive therapeutic space. My approach is eclectic and grounded in a person-centered framework, with strong foundations in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I value each client’s unique experiences, strengths, and identity, and I work collaboratively to tailor therapy to meet their individual needs and goals.
Shelby Hembrough will soon be a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor under the supervision of Ann Dodge, LCPC.
